Candidate for Borough Warden announces Transportation Initiative

Candidate for Jewett City Borough Warden and Founder of the Jewett City Party (JCP), Ron Ward, has a plan to address the public transportation needs of Jewett City residents, taxpayers and community members. Introducing a Jewett City local ordinance to create the Jewett City Public Transportation Advisory Board will be a top priority of his administration.

Ron Ward stated, "Residents of Jewett City depend on the SEAT bus service for getting to work, buying groceries, and keeping medical appointments. A local Public Transportation Advisory Board will give residents an opportunity for 'hands-on' involvement to address our transportation needs."

The board would consist of seven to nine members and meet at least once a month to address resident concerns and development recommendations for public transportation initiatives. Ward explained, "Having a resident that uses public transportation on a regular basis serving as Board Chairperson will keep the mission 'front and center' and demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent public transportation."

Meeting our need for public transportation requires regional cooperation and problem solving. Regional and local taxpayers know that an effective transportation plan is a key to economic development. Governor Rell's budget recommendation to appropriate $3,000,000 to address Southeast Connecticut transportation needs is a step in the right direction.

A local Jewett City Board of Public Transportation will give board members an opportunity to serve as representatives and participate in decision making as the region continues to address our transportation needs. Currently, the Griswold First Selectman serves as a voting member on the SEAT board of directors.

Candidate Ward stated, "As Borough Warden, I will request that the Jewett City Board of Burgess have the opportunity to appoint a member of the local Public Transportation Advisory Board to serve as a voting member on the SEAT Board of Directors." He continued by stating, "Understanding that Jewett City residents are the primary riders on the SEAT bus, it is appropriate that a member of the local board serve on the SEAT board of directors."

I can't believe that Melinda Brooks would lower her standards to run for anything with Ron Ward. She doen't know what a liar and cheat he is.Let's see phone number registered in someone else's name.Hiding from anyone?Or just credit card companies.Having your car repode.Writing bad checks to your landlord on slater ave. Ron you still owe taxes to Jewett City on that car they took from you.People of the burrow BEWARE he has his hands in everyone of your pockets pulling anything he can grap.

If his taxes are not paid up the town should not grant this guy on any postion on any board. If he owes that many people money, he should get a job and dtop bothering everyone in town. The only reason he joined the fire dept was so he can get paid. If our voluntier fire dept is so voluntier do not take any payment. By the way you know and I know after the election he out of the fire dept.

Melinda Brooks is not running with Ron Ward, she is running AGAINST, Ron Ward. Even more choices for the people. I have made my choice and its not Ron. Melinda really cares about the borough. She has lived here forever.

Regarding the first comment: Read up. Melinda Brooks is running AGAINST Ron, not with him. He's a liar and a cheat because...why? His phone number is registered in somebody else's name? MAYBE he used to live with someone, and they don't live together anymore. MAYBE the phone company make a mistake-stranger things have happened. And him having his car repossessed makes him a bad candidate? I think it makes him a normal American with financial burdens just like everyone else. He understands what Jewett City residents go through on a daily basis. If Ron still owed taxes to the borough, I highly doubt he'd be so publicly campaigning. People with skeletons in their closet don't run for public office. Lastly, learn how to spell and/or type.

All Ron is doing, like the last commenter said, is offering more options for our voters. What kind of election is it when there is only one name on the ballot? I am a registered Republican in the town of Norwich where I reside but if I lived in the borough, Ron Ward would most certainly have my vote.

Let us judge the candidates for their ideas, and how those ideas may help shape our future.

What I love about the Jewett City Party is the creativeness and detail of the ideas.
